What Is World AMR Awareness Week & Why It Matters to You

From 18-24 November 2025, the world marks World AMR Awareness Week, a global campaign led by the World Health Organization (WHO) to highlight the growing threat of antimicrobial resistance (AMR). AMR happens when germs like bacteria or viruses change over time and stop responding to our medicines, meaning common infections can become harder, or sometimes even impossible, to treat. This year’s theme is “Act Now: Protect Our Present, Secure Our Future”, emphasising that AMR isn’t just a distant issue, it’s already affecting our health today.
